October 2021 - EXTRAS: Adobe Theater's Dinner with the Boys

We’re excited to see one of our favorite playhouses, The Adobe Theater, back to doing live events. They’re excited to be presenting their next production, Dinner with the Boys by Dan Lauria, directed by Rhonda Ware, performed by Dan Ware, Yannig Morin, Daniel Anaya and Nick Urzetta. Dan Lauria is better known as an actor – foremost the father in the TV series The Wonder Years – this was his playwriting debut in 2015.

Rhonda Ware will be making her directorial debut with The Adobe Theater with this production. She has previously worked with the theater in various roles, both onstage and behind the scenes. She is excited to have Dinner With the Boys be her debut. “I am very grateful to Adobe for the opportunity to direct a play, and not just any play - but our first live play with an audience since before the pandemic. The Adobe Theater has been my home away from home after moving here in 2018.” Ware also shared what drew her to this project. “I first became acquainted with "Dinner With the Boys" in Farmington, NM. I was asked to design and paint the set for Theater Ensemble Arts. The actors rehearsed as I worked. I loved the dialogue and the relationship between the two main characters, Charlie and Dominic, set in a parody of mob movies.”

The production follows Charlie and Dom, two wise guys from the old neighborhood, find themselves at odds with the Family; they must serve up perfectly seasoned performances with their spicy puttanesca to escape danger. This odd couple awaits their fate as they prepare dinner for their special guests. The only question remaining – will this dinner be their last meal. Enjoy an evening filled with belly-laughs, killer plot twists, and plenty of garlic! Ware wants audiences to walk away feeling like they paid for a good show. “Audiences should come away feeling entertained by watching a show that mixes nostalgia, parody, and comedy. What we really want is for the audience to feel how much we've missed sharing the same space and performing for them. We've been away for far too long.”

Dinner with the Boys will have performances on October 15th-November 7th, 2021, Fridays and Saturdays at 7.30pm, Sundays at 2pm, with a “Pay What You Will” Thursday performance on November 4th at 7.30pm. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.adobetheater.org. - Teresa Robinson
