New Mexico’s dream-pop duo Tan Cologne—comprised of Lauren Green and Marissa Macias unveiled their latest single and video, “Infinity,” a mesmerizing glimpse into their forthcoming album Unknown Beyond, set for release on June 20 via Labrador Records.
The track, steeped in shoegaze-inspired guitars and ethereal vocals, offers meditative reflection on life’s impermanence and the mysterious transition between the physical and spiritual. The band describes “Infinity” as “an endless drift into the infinite,” capturing the fragile balance between the known and the unknown. “The lyrics ‘All pass through known’ evoke the comfort of knowing we all enter and leave, though the definitive dimension is the unknown beyond,” the duo explains.
Shot in the stark, stunning landscapes of Taos, New Mexico, the music video for “Infinity” adds a layer of haunting beauty to the experience. Co-directed by the band and their collaborator Ricardo de Jesus Tejeda, the video follows a man’s meditative journey through a timeless day—his only companion, a horse named Lupita. The visuals mirror the track’s dreamlike quality, covering loss, rebirth, and return.
Tan Cologne will soon bring its immersive soundscapes to stages across Europe. They will join Trentemøller on tour, followed by additional U.S. dates throughout the summer.
This release marks a new chapter for the Taos-based artists. Since their debut in 2020 with Cave Vaults on the Moon in New Mexico, the duo has been steadily building a body of work deeply tied to the natural world and metaphysical introspection. Their sophomore album, Earth Visions of Water Spaces (2022), centered on the transformative power of water, while their 2023 project Pescetrullo (soundscapes) captured ambient field recordings in the remote architecture of southern Italy.
Unknown Beyond, their third studio album, continues their tradition of conceptually rich, place-based work—but this time, it reaches beyond geography into something more spiritual. Recorded entirely in solitude at their Taos home, the album is a cathartic response to a period marked by personal loss and profound change. “We looked for signs and signals during the recording process,” the band shares. “If we saw a shooting star, imagined a fire burning on a hill, or remembered an old satellite dish in someone’s yard, we explored that lyrically.”
Each track on Unknown Beyond becomes part of an emotional roadmap—layering hypnotic rhythms, ambient textures, and abstract drums in an attempt to communicate with something beyond words. The result is a personal and sonically rich album that invites listeners into an immersive, reflective experience.
“Infinity” is now streaming, offering the first step into Tan Cologne’s latest world. A space where endings blur into beginnings and sound becomes a vessel for healing and transformation.
