Graphic for ABQ Indie Film Festival

We are excited to announce that the ABQ Indie Film Festival 2023 will take place on the 30th of July at the artistic FUSION. With a powerful and diverse screening program of shorts and features by filmmakers from around the globe, we bring once again international independent cinema to the heart of New Mexico.

Loyal to our mission to showcase the best of indie cinema, our film selection consists of various genres including fiction, documentary, and animated films. Our aim is to use the power of filmmaking to spark conversations and give birth to new ideas. With AIFF’s community of cinephiles, filmmakers, and industry experts, expanding year by year we are proud that our Film Festival serves as a connecting platform for the film community. As always, our screening program showcases both upcoming and established filmmakers including among others student films and newcomers’ creations.

The feature narrative Róise & Frank by Rachael Moriarty and Peter Murphy, which opens the Festival, is a 2022 Irish comedy-drama starring Bríd Ní Neachtain that has been described as a fun exploration of the various stages of grief. The multi-awarded “The Secret of Mr. Nostoc” and “Object of Life” which compete in the Best Short Animation category, are bound to entertain you and highlight the power of animated films. This year’s Festival ends with Jeremy Stewart’s “First Time”, which competes in the Best Short category.

This year, the ABQ Indie Film Festival will take at the FUSION, a multi-venue home to three both indoor and outdoor stages, which serves as a community-inspired creative space and New Mexico’s home for creative and cultural exploration. Their mission is to incite global empathy through storytelling, positively impacting the human race. Supporting spaces with fresh artistic takes that share the same vision with us is part of our core philosophy and we couldn’t have wished for a more suitable venue than FUSION for #ABQFF2023.
