May 2023 - Features: Luau Dance Party for Mandy's Farm
Dominick P. Daniels, Drag King Fenix P. Daniels, is all about community. Whether it’s raising funds for LGBTQ organizations like the Imperial Sovereign Court of New Mexico, he’s familiar with the process. But he is proud of his next event for one of his favorite non-profits Mandy’s Farm, which holds a special place in his heart. “I have a family member who has a disability. That's why I grew to love them. Many businesses do not work with people with disabilities because they believe the individual cannot do the work. But in most cases, the individual with the disabilities can do more work because they tend to be more focused.”
Mandy’s Farm is a nonprofit organization that assists individuals with developmental disabilities achieve their goals for living, learning, and working in the community. Daniels helped raise $1,000 at his last event for Mandy’s Farm and he hopes to meet that again, but shared that this is not like the event he’s done before. “I've never done this type of event before, so I'm not sure what to expect, but I am hoping for a minimum of $500 raised.
When it comes to what attendees can expect, there is plenty planned with this event. He also wants to motivate those with disabilities to come out. “I'm encouraging people with developmental disabilities to attend this event as it is for them,” says Daniels. “But, of course, everyone is welcome. There will be dancing, games, raffles, snacks and just hanging out and having fun!
Luau Dance Party takes place on May 17th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at 300 Menual Blvd NW, Suite 218. Adults are $10 to attend and those under 18 are $5. If you cannot participate in the event but would like to contribute, you can donate using the following Cash App or Venmo Tags:
