Keshet’s "Alice": an adventure of wonder and wondering

When Keshet retired its beloved traditional Holiday dance show “Nutcracker on the Rocks” in 2016, fans were disappointed and were afraid it would leave a void in their holiday enjoyment. With the premiere of their newest holiday show “Alice, an adventure of wonder and wondering” two years ago, the fans need not have worried.

“Keshet’s Alice draws inspiration from the Alice in Wonderland story and characters, but our interpretation is only loosely based on Lewis Carroll’s work, and instead we experience Alice through a Keshet lens of self-discovery and new possibilities, embodying and embracing Keshet’s mission of unlimited possibilities,” says Keshet’s founder and Artistic Director, Shira Greenberg, who also choreographed the piece.

This show really is a wonder, featuring dancers from ages 8-80 and featuring dances performed to classic rock and jazz songs. If the audience is expecting the traditional characters from Alice in Wonderland they will be disappointed. Keshet creates a brand new set of fantastical characters to inhabit this world. We accompany Alice as she journeys through Wonderland and learns about herself, overcoming her fears and the power of imagination.

Alice, an adventure in wonder and wondering runs through November 18 and offers a special sensory-friendly show on Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 pm. Tickets run from $25-30. Special rates are available at the box office for students, seniors, and veterans. Purchase your tickets at https://keshetarts.org/alice/
