August 2018 - Between the Pages: New Mexico Historical Chronology

Yes, it is 1028 pages! It could be the perfect gift for a high school or college student interested in New Mexico history or an adult who writes about New Mexico history.

Don Bullis, lives in Rio Rancho, has two other major tomes – New Mexico Historical Biographies and New Mexico Historical Encyclopedia with 800+ and 900+ pages respectively. They have won the Eric Hoffer Award, the NM & AZ Book Awards, an IPPY Award, New Mexico Historical Society Dominguez Award, New Mexico Press Women Award, Southwest Design Award from NMBA, and the National Federal of Press Women Award. Big books with a lot of credentials!

Don was also named the New Mexico State Author for the Centennial – no small honor. He is speaking among at many locations, including to the National Retired Secret Service Agents Convention in Santa Fe in September. He had to be vetted for that to see if he was on the level – is he too good to be true? He was a teacher, sheriff, policeman, lobbyist, and journalist. He still is a noted author. The Introduction for his new book is by noted historian and UNM teacher Richard Melzer – also an award winner.

The Chronology is about people, events, places, and the history of New Mexico. It is the best place to start to find things to write about for school reports. The book has features to draw from and have ideas. We are a rich state! It has been said that these three books are the most important books on New Mexico since Ralph Emerson Twitchell – 100 years ago (he’s in the book too!).

Don Bullis will be signing all his books at Treasure Hours Books and Gifts on the Plaza in Old Town Albuquerque on September 16 - 1pm, and at the Albuquerque Museum Author Fest November 3- all day. There are more events being confirmed. Don has seen it all and writes about the place he loves New Mexico. We should all be proud that this is who we are.
