August 2018 - Behind the Scenes: Twist Nightclub

New Mexico Entertainment had the opportunity to get a behind the scenes look a new nightclub comes to Downtown Albuquerque. Twist Nightclub, located at 109 4th Street Northwest, is the creation of married couple Michael and Renato Estacio-Burdick, who also owns the well-known LGBTQ club, Sidewinders Ranch, in Northeast Albuquerque. The idea of Twist was a long time coming. “We always wanted to have a nightclub for the community downtown and just couldn’t find the right location,” shared Michael. “We are excited about this opportunity.” The club’s interior design concept is being led by Bryan Sears, known in the community by his drag name, Jacquêsán Taylor Stratton. Renato sent photos of the original design which was black and red throughout. Estacio-Burdick will not keep the current color scheme going with a speakeasy feel, creating a wall of scandalous articles from the 1920s and later. “The club will have more of a lounge feel at the beginning of the night,” shared Renato. “Then after 10 pm, we clear the floor to create a full dance club.”

They will have a soft opening on Friday, August 3rd that will contain a drag show at 7:00 pm, live music with Revolution Radio at 9:00 pm, and DJ Dance Night with DJ Romann T at 11:00 pm. The club officially opens on Saturday, August 4th with a White Party from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm hosting by Renato, Kena Boeckner and Paul Garson. The night will end with more dancing with Romann T again at the helm. Twist Nightclub will be the second club downtown catering to the LGBTQ community.
