June 2018 - Extras: 15th Annual Pork & Brew
Pork & Brew presented by Santa Ana Star Casino will return to the Santa Ana Star Center for the 15th year, June 29th – July 1st. New Mexico’s ORIGINAL Food Festival will bring together the best BBQ vendors from around the region! This three-day event featuring BBQ, local craft beer, live music and interactive family activities will be one of the biggest events of the summer. Returning to the event will be Galloping Grace Youth Ranch who will showcase a petting zoo and pig races throughout the weekend. Some new entertainment coming to Pork & Brew will be the New Mexico Gunfighter's Association who will be having daily performances of Old West skits and shootouts.
“Rio Rancho’s signature event, Pork & Brew, will return to the Santa Ana Star Center, June 29 - July 1. This will mark the 15th year for an event that has garnered national recognition as one of the best BBQ events in the country,” said Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull. “With plenty of BBQ, fair food, and local beer available, I invite everyone to come and see why Pork & Brew was named ‘Event of the Year’ by the New Mexico Hospitality Association.”
The event will feature an indoor/outdoor format, ensuring the 15,000 expected attendees can enjoy all the festival has to offer rain or shine. This year’s event will again feature some of New Mexico's breweries with the likes of Tractor Brewing Company, Red Door Brewing Company, and local Rio Rancho favorite Cazuela's Brewery. Over twenty different microbrews will be on tap throughout the event. For the beer enthusiasts, there will be an expanded seating area with live, local music throughout each day.
One major change to this year's event is the elimination of "BBQ Bucks". Vendors will now be accepting cash and credit cards for payment. Between chomps of fantastic BBQ, you can check out local arts and crafts vendors and burn off some calories by dancing to live music. Kids can get in on the fun with face painting and a few trips through the bouncy houses. There will also be kid’s watermelon and adult pie eating contests daily! Times for the 15th Annual Pork & Brew are as follows: Friday, June 29th 3pm-9pm, Saturday, June 30th 11am-7pm, and Sunday, July 1st 12pm-6pm.
