March 2018 - Extras: The Effect

West End Productions kicks off its third thrilling season with Lucy Prebble’s brilliant, surreal and achingly moving play, The Effect. She subtitles this startling piece with the tagline: “A play for four people, in love and sorrow.” But what is truly startling is that Prebble has written a shocker about two pairs of star-crossed lovers, framed with a scathing examination of Big Pharma and set amid grueling clinical drug tests. Romantic? YES! Erotic? YES! Thought provoking? YES! Funny? YES! YES! YES! True to West End’s mission of bringing the best plays from the British Isles to New Mexico - we are proud to introduce Albuquerque to one of England’s finest and most exciting young playwrights.

We are also pleased to welcome two extraordinary actors who will be making their West End debuts: Pip Lustgarten will play Connie Hall, and Isaac Christie will play Tristan Frey. West End regulars Colleen McClure and Tim Crofton round out the stellar cast as Dr. Lorna James and Dr. Toby Sealey. Also on tap for this production is a dream team of designers including Pete Parkin (set and lights), Casey Mraz (sound), Tim Neninger (videography), Lorri Oliver (costumes) and Cody Kelien (specialty props).

The Effect runs at North 4th Art Center, 4904 4th St. NW, from March 2 through March 25, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, Sunday matinees at 2 PM. For more information, season and individual tickets, go to
