December 2016 - Let Us Entertain You: The Dolls' Jack & The Beanstalk

The holiday season just wouldn’t be the holiday season without the annual production from The Dolls. Ken Ansloan, Director of this year’s production, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Founder of The Dolls, answered a few questions of what audiences can expect with their latest show

.

Everyone knows the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. What can we expect with your twist on it?

It is rowdy, slapstick, and lots of innuendo..so definitely a unique twist to the story. It is very much a fractured fairytale. We did a pantomime last year with Cinderella. We (The Dolls) had so much fun that we decided to do one more. And when we have a good time, I think that rubs off in the audience. And we threw in a little bit of a Christmas storyline for good measure!

What was your favorite when it came to creating this year’s production?

My favorite part of this year's production are two musical numbers that we do. I have a very drunken Christmas song that I am having so much fun with. And then our finale is a hoot. We are all dressed as famous Christmas characters. I don't want to give too much away with our finale!

What do you want the audience to walk away with this production?

I want the audience to walk away feeling elated and that they were very much a part of the show. I want them to remember parts of this show for years to come!

Jack and the Beanstalk will be at The National Hispanic Cultural Center on December 2nd-18th. Learn more at http://www.abqtheatre.com/shows/2016/12/2/the-dolls-present-jack-and-the-beanstalk
