April 2016 - Make 'Em Laugh - Jim Belushi and The Board of Comedy

Join Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy for an evening of improvised hilarity. Hailing from some of the most popular comedic venues in the nation, including The Second City, iO Theater, The Reckoning, and Uncle’s Brother, Belushi and his colleagues bring the best in improve to the Duke City. Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy comes to Popejoy Hall on Saturday, May 1, 2016, at 3pm.

Presented in a format similar to Drew Carey’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the show is based solely on improvisation. Jim Belushi and the Board of Comedy concoct hilarious scenarios based on topics picked from a hat, sometimes even asking the audience for prompts. Belushi encourages members of the audience to interact and participate with the comedians throughout the evening. Emphatic that the show not be seen as a standup performance, Belushi says, “Our show is not a passive, sit back-and-watch experience. It’s less a ‘show’ and more a party.” Members of the Board of Comedy include Megan Grano, Larry Joe Campbell, Joshua Funk, and Brad Morris, all classically trained improvisers who tour regularly nationwide.*

Actor, comedian, musician, and an alumnus of Saturday Night Live, Jim Belushi has over 30 years of experience performing on stage and screen. He has appeared in over 75 movies and five television series, and is a member of a rhythm and blues band, The Sacred Hearts. He also starred in, produced, directed, and composed music for the ABC sitcom, According to Jim, during its eight year run.
