Today, New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced the finalists of the 2018 New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase. April 2018 - Make 'Em Laugh: Rumble Productions

You may have heard some recent rumblings about a theatrical group in Albuquerque called Rumble Productions. Some say it’s like “Saturday Night Live” meets “Pitch Perfect”. What exactly is Rumble Productions? Rumble Productions is the brainchild of local singer and actress Jessica Wachs. Wachs is a UNM graduate who studied communication and music. The unique thing about Rumble is that it started as an offshoot of the UNM a cappella choir. Wachs started the UNM a cappella choir group which is now called “Something Major.” The a cappella choir group made musical discoveries and created new improv styles and pieces of a cappella music. Talia Pura will star in the premiere performances of Edward Morris’ one-woman play, The Passion of Ethel Rosenberg, April 26-29 and May 3-6 at Studio Center of Santa Fe. The play comes to Santa Fe under the aegis of promoter Grace Reinbold after trial runs in Nashville. It has particular relevance for Santa Fe audiences, Reinbold notes, because Ethel Rosenberg and her husband, Julius, were convicted of spying for Russia on testimony provided by Ethel’s brother, David Greenglass, who confessed to stealing atomic bomb secrets while working at the government laboratories in nearby Los Alamos. =Based largely on actual letters exchanged in prison between Ethel and Julius, the play imagines Ethel’
